Ready to Run Iowa returns in spring 2025. “Increasing the number of women running for elective office and serving on boards and commissions in Iowa continues to be a central part of the Catt Center’s mission,” said Carrie Ann Johnson, Associate Director of Outreach and Communication at the center. “Our Ready to Run® Iowa campaign training program provides practical training for anyone considering entering public office.”
Carrie Ann Johnson, interim coordinator of research and outreach for the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, has been awarded the 2023 Karas Award for Outstanding Dissertation from the Graduate College at Iowa State University for her dissertation, “Whisper Networks: Sexual Harassment Protection Through Informal Networks.” Read more here.
Dr. Carrie Ann Johnson, recent Ph.D. graduate in Rhetoric and Professional Communication, focused her dissertation on a highly under-researched topic: whisper networks, or the informal communication channels that women use to keep one another safe from sexual harassment and other forms of sexism.
